Joseph Howard

HorsePower began in 1984, by Joseph Howard a local Castle Rock Civitan member, for elementary school children in the Castle Rock schools. Throughout the years, HorsePower has continued to provide therapeutic equestrian program to children and has also expanded to serve the needs of adults. HorsePower is now located at Meadowbrook Farm, located off of Garton Road just outside of Castle Rock. Meadowbrook Farm offers a beautiful country setting, with an indoor and outdoor arena, and ample land for trail rides.

HorsePower is possible through the generous support of our community, and partners with several local organizations, such as the Castle Rock Civitan Club, the Castle Rock Kiwanis, the Castle Rock Rotary, local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts Troops, the Air Force Academy Cadets, the Douglas Country Volunteer Coalition, and many more.

HorsePower is also a Center Member with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (PATH, Intl.) and employs certified therapeutic riding instructor(s) through the PATH, Intl. organization. In the early fall of 2015, HorsePower became a Provider Approved Service Agency (PASA).

HorsePower works to offer quality therapeutic equestrian programming for individuals within Douglas County and the Denver/Colorado Spring metropolitan areas.
